The Barrie Colts spoiled the home opener for the Sarnia Sting tonight winning 4-2!
First period was fairly balanced. Mostly aggressive. Both sides took some penalties, there was a fight and the Sting out shot the Colts 11 - 8.
13 seconds into the second period Roy Radke would score his first OHL goal putting the Colts up 1-0. Both Hooey and Scott would get assists on the goal.
6:36 seconds into the second Josh Carrick would score his first OHL goal! Players taking all the pucks from this game? Labanc and James both with assists.
With almost 1:30 left in the period the Sting would cut the lead in half when D. Nikandrov scored.
Again, the Colts were out shot. Blackwood was strong stopping all 13 shots he faced.
Lemieux would score in the 3rd to give the Colts a 3-1 lead following a strong effort by Blandisi who was credited with an assist on the goal.
3 minutes later the Hodgson would score for Sarnia, bringing the Sting within 1 goal.
With 42 seconds left in the 3rd period, Blandisi would score his 6th goal of the season! His 9th point on the season.
Colts win 4-2. Looked good for the most part minus a few sloppy giveaways in their end. Again, discipline could have been practiced better, however they looked to have a little more composure than last night.
Notes:
- Colts were out shot again. 34-25.
- Blandisi scores and gets an assist. His 9th point puts him in 2nd in the OHL jumping over Erie Otter Connor Mcdavid.
- Colts were unable to score on 4 power play chances. Might wont to work a little on special teams. With the skill up front they need to take advantage of these chances.
Barrie heads home to play the Ottawa 67's tomorrow night at BMC. Colt Alumni, Jeremy Swanson will be there as part of the 20 year anniversary! We have a piece going up tomorrow with a little about him with the Colts. Puck drop is at 7:30.
