The Barrie Colts have traded CJ Garcia and Givani Smith, 2 second round picks (2017, 2018) and a 5th and 10th in this years draft in exchange for (D)Chadd Beauman and (D)Ben Harpur.
Ben Harpur is in his 4th season in the OHL. He spent all his time in Guelph before being moved to Barrie today. This season he has 20 points (4G,16A)in 28 games played. Standing at 6'6 and weighing 217, he adds some size to the Colts blue line. His 20 points this year makes the Colts defender with the 2nd most points for blue liners. He also is a +10 on the season.
In 3.5 seasons in the OHL, Harpur has a total of 55 points (11G,44A) in in 196 regular season games. When the Storm won the championship last season, Ben got 5 points and finished the playoffs with a +22 which is pretty incredible.
Chadd Beauman is in his 3rd OHL season, having spent all his time in Guelph as well. This year he has 8 points (3G,5A) in 36 games played. In his OHL career he has a total 21 points in 150 games played. The Conestogo, ON native stands 6'3 and is a healthy 228 poinds. In 150 OHL games, he has 174 minutes worth of penalties.
We would like to wish CJ Garcia and Givani the best of luck in Guelph! Though we only say a little of Smith we don't doubt he has a great future and Garcia (one of my personal favs) will be missed. Best of luck with the new team!
