Joseph Blandisi signs with the New Jersey Devils. #OHL #NHL #Devils

Renaud Lavoie has reported this morning that Joseph Blandisi has signed a 3 year deal with the New Jersey Devils. Reportedly the deal is worth $650,000 a year and is a two way deal.

The Markham, Ontario native was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche (162nd) at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Blandisi is playing in his 5th season in the OHL. Originally signed by the Owen Sound Attack, Blandisi is currently playing in his first full season with the Colts having been moved to Barrie last season.

This year, Barrie named Blandisi the team captain replacing former captain Aaron Ekblad who was drafted first overall by the Florida Panthers and is currently fighting for the Calder.

In 217 OHL games, Blandisi has a total 201 points (86 goals, 115 assists.)

This season, he is currently in 2nd on the team (5th in the OHL) for points with 69 (30 goals, 39 assists). He is a +13 and is averaging 1.77 points per game.

Blandisi will only improve a struggling Devil's team. He has good speed and even better vision. He has really stepped up his game and has blossomed in his leadership role with the Colts. No doubt that Colorado will regret not signing him when they had his rights.

Devils fans should get excited. For those of you not familiar with his work, here is a little of what you can expect.

We would like to congratulate Blandisi on getting signed and wish him nothing but the best!
