Today news came out that former Barrie Colt Mitch Theoret will be headed to Germany to play for the EHC Bayreuth Tigers. (Source: The Tigers Official site)
Over the course of two seasons with the Colts, Theoret played a total of 77 games. In that span he recorded a total of 69 points, 34 PIM and was a +34. Though he didn't have a strong showing in the Colts last Playoff run, the year before he 18 points in the 25 games.
Mitch was also drafted by the New York Islanders in the 2011 NHL Draft (7th round, 185).
It is expected that Mitch will be headed to Germany and is expected there in mid August. The team has said that they look forward to adding a big tough center that has scoring potential. Though they are unsure of how well he will transition from the OHL to the German League, they are hopeful that someone who was almost a point a game player in "the best youth league in Canada" will be able to apply his abilities to this league as well.
We would like to wish Mitch the best of luck in Germany. #GoColtsGo
